## Content — CC0 1.0 Universal

To the extent Bibliothecarius Modernus owns or controls the rights, the following are dedicated to the public domain under
[CC0 1.0 Universal](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/): the English translations, the contextual research
essays (blog posts), scholarly metadata, the machine-readable exports (`metadata.json`, `api/catalog.json`,
`assets/translations/*.json`) and every other textual scholarly contribution published on this site. You may copy, adapt and
redistribute them for any purpose without permission. Attribution to *Bibliothecarius Modernus* is appreciated, not required.

Quotations from third-party scholarship inside the essays belong to their sources and are cited as such.

## Latin sources — public domain

The Latin texts are public-domain source material (J.-P. Migne, *Patrologia Latina*, 1844–65). No rights are claimed over
them. Where the project has made its own contributions to transcription or markup, those contributions are CC0 as above.
The underlying digitised database is not redistributed.

## Site code — MIT

The Jekyll layouts, includes, plugins and scripts in this repository are licensed under the MIT licence.

## White papers and methodology — CC BY 4.0

Original explanatory material about the system (white papers, architecture and methodology documents, original diagrams —
e.g. DOI [10.5281/zenodo.18002473](https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18002473)) is licensed
[CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/): reuse freely with attribution to *Ryan Wolfslayer, Bibliothecarius Modernus*.

## Earlier statements

Before 2026-09-13 this site stated CC BY 4.0 for translations while the corpus repository and Archive.org items stated CC0;
the CC0 dedication now governs everywhere. Zenodo records deposited in 2025 carry CC BY 4.0 as deposited and are not
re-licensed retroactively; the CC0 dedication of the same content is the operative statement for reuse.
